°Pack Ranks° In order from highest positions to lowest
Packs consist of 2-16 wolves never more than 16
Alpha Female
The alpha female is the highest ranked of all wolves in a pack and she alone hold the pirvlage to have pups, unless she gives another she-wolf permission. She also usually leads the pack hunts. She is usually larger than any other wolf in the pack including the alpha male and she will only loose her rank when she dies or when she is chalanged by another pack wolf and fails in the battle. If defeated she would then be evicted from the pack or become an Omega, the lowest ranking in the pack. No Pack can be without an Alpha female though they can go for a time without an alpha male. One per pack
Alpha Male
The Alpha male is the second highest rank in the pack. Though a pack can go without one for a few moons it can't be much longer than four moons. He can be highly in charge but the Alpha Female always has ruling over him becuase of her size. It is sad to say that only the healthiest male will be the Alpha male and he is almost always chosen by the alpha female, though he can be challanged by another male to be proven less worthy than the other of the female's love and if defeated the female usually mates with the winner. He is the only male aloowed to mate the alpha female. 0-1 per pack
Pups
Pups are born in litters from 1-3 on this site no more. They stay pups until they are 4 moons old. They are the youngest of the pack and some of the most important pack members. They always eat first, except for the alphas, and they come before all else in the pack if there is danger. 0-3 per pack
Female Betas
A female beta is likely to be the only other rank of female in the pack the alpha female will even think of letting mate. These wolves take care of the bosses pups and help hunt. They are eighther very loyal to earn this position or they have worked their way up in other ways. Many of the Alpha female's duaghters will become betas after their training. 1-2 per pack
Male Beta
These guys are the only ones allowed to mate with any of the other females in the pack if the alpha female says it is ok for the female to mate. Other wise they can mate with loner females or those from other packs, as long as they aren't cuaght by the other pack's alpha and the alpha of his pack won't care as long as he doesn't make more pups in his pack. 0-2 per pack
Grey Beards A grey beard is the oldest wolf in the pack. He or she is the one that teaches the pupils to hunt and fight. they are also responsible for healing the others of the pack when they are injured. They often pass on their knowlege to the next oldest wolf in the pack. A grey beard could be of another rank as well. 1 in a pack
Pupils
Pupils are the trainees of the pack if you will, they are the ones who are learning to fight and hunt. There are never more than one or two pupils in a a pack at a time, if a third pup was born then it might be allowed to be trained as a pupil but it would likely have to be run off when it is old enough to learn to hunt on it's own the pack just can't afford to teach more than two at a time. Females are always first priority to teach so if an extra male is born say good-bye. 0-2 in a pack
Omegas
Omegas are the lowest of all members in the pack. They are only allowed to hunt and fight rival pack members. They aren't often allowed near the pups or pupils and are never allowed to mate with permission. If one of their females gets pregnant she is evicted from the pack or her pups are stolen by the alpha, mabey one killed to get the point across that she is not to mate. 0-4 in a pack.
